Storm Surge in Houston Bay Area as Nicholas Moves In

Hurricane Nicholas made landfall in Texas early on September 14, and brought storm surges and high winds to the Houston bay area as it weakened to a tropical storm.

Footage released by Harris County Precinct 2 shows strong waves hitting the coast at La Porte. The precinct said the storm surge breached the berm at the Sylvan Beach Pavilion.

The National Hurricane Center said tropical storm conditions would be experienced along the Texas coast early on September 14, and in Louisiana by the afternoon.
