A storm chaser captured the formation and retreat of a brief and rare EF-0 tornado near Corning, California, on January 4.
Footage from Bradley Wilmot shows the funnel swirling above the ground before touching down. The National Weather Service confirmed the EF-0 twister in Corning, and another tornado in an open field near Vina, California.
“Ended up in a good position to see the formation, touchdown, then lifting as the storm continued to rotate into the foothills,” Wilmot wrote on Facebook. Credit: Bradley Wilmot via Storyful
