'Stolen' French Bulldog Reunited With Overjoyed Family After Two Years Apart
Baya, a French bulldog “stolen” from her family in Ireland two years ago, was reunited with her rightful owners on Saturday, January 14, according to the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA).
The DSPCA said that the dog “was found in the middle of a busy road” in Dublin, Ireland. When the charity “scanned her for a microchip and looked up her details on the FIDO database,” they found that the French bulldog was listed as ‘lost/stolen’ two years ago.
The dog was missing from a family in Galway, more than 200 km (125 miles) from where she was found in Dublin, the DCPCA said.
Video posted by the DSPCA, which they said was filmed on Saturday, shows the emotional reunion between the family and their beloved pet in Dublin. Baya, who is sporting a lavender sweater, licks tears from her owner’s face, the footage shows.
The DSPCA reminded owners of the importance of microchipping their pets, saying that many animals in their shelter may belong to “loving homes,” but without microchips, they “have no way of contacting their owners.” Credit: DSPCA via Storyful
