Sterlin Harjo Drama Pilot Starring Ethan Hawke Picked Up At FX
FX has picked up Sterlin Harjo’s drama pilot starring Ethan Hawke, Deadline has confirmed.
We broke the news in February that the project had been given a pilot order which reunites Harjo, co-creator, executive producer and showrunner of the network’s acclaimed series Reservation Dogs, with Hawke, who appeared in the Emmy-nominated series’ penultimate episode.

Created by Harjo, the drama is a Tulsa noir about a guy (Hawke) who knows too much.
The pilot cast includes Keith David, Siena East, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson, Scott Shepherd, Tracy Letts , Kyle Maclachlan and Macon Blair.
We spoke to Harjo on the red carpet at the Emmy’s (video above), where he shared his excitement over his new collaboration with Hawke.
“There’s a pilot I made this year called The Sensitive Kind starring Ethan Hawke—I think it’s coming,” he shared.
When I asked him if that meant it was picked up, Harjo flashed a nervous smile and said, “I kinda can’t say but…it’s coming and it’s going to be awesome.”
Harjo also serves as writer and director on the pilot, which he and Hawke executive produce with Garrett Basch. The project falls under Harjo’s overall deal with FX Productions, which is the project’s studio.
The order for the series comes on the heels of Reservation Dogs ending its award-winning three-season run on FX as the network’s topper John Landgraf told Deadline this week that he and his team are focused on finding worthy successors to Reservation Dogs and the handful of other successful series that wrapped in the past year.
Earlier today, it was revealed that Harjo made the 2024 MacArthur Fellows list as the only filmmaker in the group alongside performing and visual artists, writers, scientists, historians and activists.
Variety was first to confirm the drama’s official pickup.
