Stephanie Cheng adopts dog from closed Macau racetrack

5 Dec – Hong Kong singer Stephanie Cheng recently denied rumours that she is pregnant, after telling the media that she has been preparing her home for "a new member".

As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who spoke to the media at an event held in GH Whampoa recently, shared that the new member in question is a dog she and boyfriend Martin have decided to adopt.

"My boyfriend and I have a consensus - that we should raise a dog together first. As for babies, I will just play with my friends' kids for now," she said.

Stephanie stated that she and Martin made the decision after previously hearing the news about a Macau dog racing track closing down, and that the greyhounds they kept were in need of new families.

"So we decided to get one of them. The procedure has been rigorous and I have yet to get the approval to get it home yet," she said.

The dog-racing track in question was Canidrome Club, owned by Macau legislator Angela Leong, wife of casino tycoon Stanley Ho, which closes its doors in July.

On the other hand, when asked whether she and Martin have plans to tie the knot soon, the singer, who has been dating her foreign boyfriend close to eight years now, stated that it is not yet the time for marriage.

"I will let God decide for us. I also plan to have my own children only after marriage," she said.
