Stellantis, iPhone-maker Foxconn plan tie-up

The worlds of cars and smartphones are coming together.

Auto giant Stellantis - owner of Fiat, Jeep and other brands - plan to start working with iPhone-maker Foxconn.

The two plan to announce details of the partnership on Tuesday (May 18).

Last year the then Fiat Chrysler, now part of Stellantis, said it planned a joint venture with Foxconn parent Hon Hai Precision Industry.

That was intended to build electric cars, and develop internet-connected vehicles.

Now the new deal is part of a series of moves by Foxconn.

In January it said it would tie up with China's Geely to build cars for other manufacturers.

Foxconn will also help make electric SUVs for Chinese startup Byton.
