Steelers star T.J. Watt reportedly tore multiple ligaments in finger vs. Ravens, will keep playing
Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt played through some pain Sunday, and plans to continue doing so.
The All-Pro pass-rusher sustained a badly dislocated finger and tore multiple ligaments in that finger during the Steelers' win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but popped the finger back in place and continued to play, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Watt reportedly plans to continue playing after Pittsburgh's bye week, but might need to have it surgically repaired after the season.
The whole thing sounds painful, but Watt, in the reported words of Mike Tomlin, "does not care."
If the finger had forced Watt to miss time, it would have interrupted one of the NFL's strongest Defensive Player of the Year campaigns. In five games, the 28-year-old leads the NFL with eight sacks (two ahead of the four players combined for second), plus 15 combined tackles, seven tackles for loss, four passes defended, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.
Two of those sacks came against the Ravens, a game in which the Steelers didn't allow a single point after three minutes into the second quarter (though they had some help from the Ravens receivers there).
Watt is coming off a season that was shortened by a torn pectoral muscle and knee surgery, posting only 5.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss in 10 games.
