Steam Rises From La Palma Manhole Near Lava Flow

Steam hissed out from a manhole in La Palma, Spain, on November 10 as the Cumbre Vieja volcano’s activity continued.

Filmmaker and photographer Roberto Nazco Vicente captured the billowing clouds of vapor on video.

He noted in his Instagram caption that the nearby piles of cooling lava were likely raising the temperature in the area and causing the steam.

Volcanic activity was continuing on the island on November 15, local observers said, with the volcano spewing ash and smoke, and more lava reaching the sea. Credit: Roberto Nazco Vicente via Storyful
