After staying silent, director Syamsul Yusof now accuses his first wife Puteri Sarah of infidelity
KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 ― In a tit for tat, Mat Kilau director Syamsul Yusof has accused his first wife Puteri Sarah Liyana of cheating during their marriage.
The 38-year-old made the claim via a nusyuz (disobedience) application that was filed at the Gombak Lower Syariah Court on Tuesday afternoon, Kosmo! reported.
Syamsul, who is also married to Ira Kazar, the daughter of veteran actor Kazar Saisi, claimed that Sarah was in contact with her former lover, who is now married, during their marriage.
“All this while whatever happened in my marriage I remained silent. I think it was not nice to share this with the public.”
“In this world, there is no husband who can accept his wife cheating with the husband of another person. I know Sarah is still in contact with her former lover from college days,” he reportedly said.
Syamsul, or his full name Mohd Syamsul Mohd Yusof, admitted he was shocked when Sarah accused him of beating her.
“That is slander. Maybe Sarah is angry and hates me.”
“My mistake was I chose to remain quiet and my parents also criticised me. It is not that I want to get back at Sarah but the truth has to be made known,” he added.
The case has been fixed for mention on April 6.
Responding to his claim, Sarah, or her full name Puteri Sarah Liyana Megat Kamaruddin, questioned why Syamsul only brought up the issue now.
The mother of two said their marriage had been having problems for the past four years.
“What does he actually want?” Kosmo! reported her as saying adding that she was not afraid of what Syamsul did as she is confident she is on the right side.
Sarah had on March 7 filed for divorce from Syamsul but was rejected by Syamsul, who refused to pronounce the talak (divorce proclamation) on Sarah.
This prompted the Lower Syariah Court judge to order the couple to undergo the conciliatory committee (jawatankuasa pendamai or JKP) to resolve the conflict.
