No matter what this year’s cold and flu season may bring to families across Canada, many of us are looking to prepare for whatever it has in store.
Part of staying healthy includes monitoring yourself and your family for potential fevers, which if caught early, can avoid the spread of illness among classmates or coworkers. A good thermometer is an essential part of any at-home medical kit, so if you’re on the hunt for one that’s easy to use, one Amazon Canada option may just be a smart buy.
SHOP IT: Amazon, $40 (originally $44)
What is it?
The Easy@Home No Touch Forehead Thermometer offers a quick and non-invasive way to gauge temperature at home, and provides a reading in as little as one second. Designed to read body temperature using infrared technology, it accurately tracks in either Celsius or Fahrenheit for an easy to read display.
To take a temperature, simply place the thermometer one to two inches away from the forehead and squeeze the scan button. The thermometer will then display the reading on its LCD screen, and provide a beeping noise to warn if a fever is present.
What shoppers are saying
As an Amazon’s choice item for home health care, this quick and easy thermometer has so far earned a 4.4 star rating with more than 1,300 customer reviews. It’s also gained a reputation as an easy to use device, particularly on young children.
“I love this thermometer, especially for my little ones because it provides a reading within 1 second. You don’t have to wait around and keep a squirmy child still in order to see if they have a fever,” explained one reviewer. “I have compared it with our other thermometers and it seems to be quite accurate so I am very pleased.”
“Purchased this product to have on hand for my family to accurately measure and record body temps, in the event of any illnesses,” added another. “Must have for any family!”
Other reviewers noted that they decided to make their purchase after seeing it used by health professionals, writing, “Great to have a contactless thermometer. Our nurse had this model and recommended it. We were happy how quickly it arrived.”
While this touchless thermometer has been praised for its ease of use and accurate readings, the only downside from reviewers appears to be its price. At $40, it’s certainly on the higher end for an at-home thermometer, but if that’s not a major deterrent, then this is one device that you’ll certainly want to add to your medicine cabinet this cold and flu season.
