State of Emergency Declared as Flash Floods Inundate Louisiana Communities

Flash flooding wreaked havoc across large parts of Lake Charles, on May 17, prompting Louisiana’s governor to issue a state of emergency.

Footage uploaded by Instagram user @classlesshopelicist shows a suburban street inundated, as more rain falls on the area.

Louisiana Governor, John Bel Edwards issued a state of emergency due to the “ongoing severe weather impacting Southwest Louisiana.” Edwards also urged locals to monitor local weather forecasts and follow all instructions from local leaders. Credit: classlesshopelicist via Storyful
