Starfield Surpasses 6 Million Players, Is Bethesda’s Biggest Launch Ever
In a development that should come as a shock to absolutely no one, Starfield has become the biggest launch for Bethesda ever. The game has logged millions of users within days of release.
To infinite…or near enough
According to the official Starfield Twitter page, as of September 7 (literally one day after the sci-fi RPG came out), more than six million players have taken to the stars.
With the weekend approaching, there’s every possibility that this number could go up even more. Starfield is easily the most hyped-up release of this generation. From Todd Howard’s original pitch in 2013 to the game finally launching just days ago, it’s been quite the journey for Bethesda.
Starfield exceeded 1 million concurrent players across all platforms today. Thanks to all the players who helped us reach this great milestone and congrats to the @BethesdaStudios https://t.co/5jFaCyPz4G

Interestingly, this milestone comes just hours after Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, said on Twitter that the game had surpassed one million concurrent players. This was across both the PC and Xbox versions.
Within moments of Starfield’s release, there were already mods being sent out into the wild. As the days have gone by, even more have been emerging, and it looks as though the modding community at large is going to keep tinkering with Bethesda’s newest IP for a good while.
The long and the short of it is that Starfield has been an incredibly rousing success, evidently living up to years of teases and marketing. But for many of us, the fact that it is so huge that more than six million people are playing is not that surprising.
It just remains to be seen whether Bethesda’s biggest launch ever can be toppled in the future, as and when The Elder Scrolls 6 finally comes out.
