From Digital Spy

Star Wars actor John Boyega has spoken out about racism following the tragic death of George Floyd in Minnesota on Monday (May 25).

Floyd, a black man, died after pleading that he couldn't breathe while a white police officer kneeled on his neck.

Sharing an image of Floyd on Twitter on Wednesday (May 27), the actor wrote: "This just burns. Seems to be a never ending cycle. The murderers need to be charged severely.

"Even in the face of death this man was given zero empathy. #RIPGeorgeFloyd #BlackLivesMatter #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd."

Boyega followed up his tweet with: "I really f**king hate racists."

When a fan replied to his tweet saying: "Hate [is] a strong word, we can't conquer hatred with hatred . We rather say we hate their attitude," Boyega responded: "I said what I said. Speak for yourself at all times x."

The actor also responded to those who said he should not have used a swear word given he is the star of a Disney film.

Boyega wrote: "This is my own personal account. I am not here for the kids."

Earlier this month, Boyega responded to a Sky News article which had the headline: "Spiky coronavirus haircut growing in popularity in Africa – here's why."

Boyega shared the article on Twitter and wrote: "@SkyNews you lot lost your damn mind putting this on the internet. Which hairstyle did you just call spiky coronavirus haircut?

"Are you guys okay? The media need to make sure they do research before wiring articles like this. Ya fackin dummies."
