Frenesia (which translates as Frenzy in English) charts how one unexpected kiss, given as a joke, shatters the world of an 18-year-old boy and sets him on a reckless, psychedelic journey into his personal hell of excess, fantasies, and boundaries.

“Flavio has created a fantastic lead character in Valerio – who, like so many students his age, is caught between the beauty of ancient Rome and a darker underground side of the city. A place where family, religion, and politics are omnipresent. We saw incredible celebrations around the world during Pride month this year and in continuing to support the community year-round, it’s important to showcase a story that explores so many powerful themes of identity and self-discovery,” stated John-Paul Sarni, EVP, Head of International Content + IP Acquisitions, Stampede.

Stampede’s recent TV credits include Gold Diggers for ABC Australia and the upcoming series, The Darkness for Síminn Iceland, based on the novel by Ragnar Jónasson, directed by Lasse Hallström and starring Lena Olin.

The company’s recently released films include Lionsgate’s Ordinary Angels starring Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson, Netflix’s Emmy-nominated documentary The Saint of Second Chances, and the young adult feature, Pink Skies Ahead, starring Mary J. Blige and Jessica Barden, acquired by MTV Studios. Upcoming film releases include the female-driven Space Cadet starring Emma Roberts, which will be released on Amazon on July 4.
