Spotify users upset as service suffers large outage

Spotify users are not happy after the streaming service suffered an outage and was down for millions of customers.
A website called DownDetector, which monitors online outages reported that Spotify started experiencing problems at just before 1pm in the UK.

Users reported problems on both the app and website with many of the complaints saying that when clicking on an artist's page they were getting a message that said "no internet connection".
Spotify acknowledged the issues themselves, tweeting: "Something’s not quite right, and we’re looking into it. Thanks for your reports!"
Around an hour later, the company posted that the issues had been sorted: "Everything’s looking much better now! Give @SpotifyCares a shout if you still need help."
The streaming service then acknowledged additional issues and users continued to complain that the app wasn't functioning correctly: "We’ve received some more reports and we’re looking into them. Thanks for the heads-up!"
It is not known what is causing the issues but many users are unhappy at being unable to access their music and there are reports of the app skipping songs, being unable to connect to speakers and listeners not being able to find podcasts.
One user tweeted: "Spotify being down might be the biggest inconvenience imaginable."
Another wrote: "Is Spotify down? It keeps skipping songs even though I’ve got premium? It also won’t play certain songs?"
One joked: "Everyone comes to twitter to note that Spotify is down."
Another wisecracked: "SPOTIFY DOWN IS MY MENTAL HEALTH A JOKE TO YOU."
Spotify is the most popular music streaming service in the world and has almost 500 million monthly listeners globally.
Reported problems on DownDetector seemed to mostly focus on the app and in the US though users in the UK and China were also affected by the issues.
