Fresh off her historic Emmy win, Zendaya appears to have lined-up her next big lead role in a new biopic of Ronnie Spector.

According to Deadline, the Spider-Man star is attached to portray the legendary Ronettes singer, having been personally hand-picked by Spector to portray her in her younger years.

Indie distributor A24, which produced the Zendaya-starring Euphoria, is putting together the movie, with deals closed on Spector's life story and memoir Be My Baby.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury is in early conversations about writing the script for the movie. As well as reportedly starring, Zendaya will also produce alongside Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, Mark Itkin and Tom Shelly.

The star recently won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actress for Euphoria, becoming the youngest ever winner in the category, as well as the second Black woman to win the award after Viola Davis.

Zendaya will soon be seen in the anticipated adaptation of Dune with Timothee Chalamet, though has revealed her role of Chani will be "very, very small".

"My part is very, very small in this movie and that's why I'm so excited to see it, to see what everyone's been up to," she said while speaking to Empire.

"[Director Denis Villeneuve and I] had a little discussion about who Chani is and the strength she possesses. She's a fighter, that's what her people are.

"I only really had a few days with her, so I kind of scratched the surface but it was so much fun figuring her out. What does she walk like, what does she talk like? This is her planet, so how does she navigate this world? It was so fun."
