Rescue crews helped free a sperm whale that was beached for 20 hours near the port city of Shipuzhen in China’s Zhejiang province on Wednesday, April 20, CCTV News reported.
Local media said that fisherman had found the stranded whale and contacted local authorities on Tuesday, April 19.
Footage streamed by Chinese firefighters on Tuesday, showed rescue crews throwing buckets of water on to the stranded creature during rescue efforts.
Several ships managed to drag the whale from its position as the tide reached its highest level on Tuesday evening, Beijing News reported.
