Spain prepares unusual day of the dead tributes

Despite the coronavirus pandemic in Spain, preparations are taking place to mark All Saints Day on November 1st.

The tradition typically draws hundreds of people to cemeteries to pay tribute to friends and relatives.

With restrictions limiting movement and large crowds, this year's event is likely to be quieter than previous ones and people have been asked to space their visits to the cemetery to avoid overcrowding on November 1.

Spain's coronavirus tally climbed by 23,580 cases on Thursday (October 29), marking a new one-day record as the hard-hit country struggles to control its second wave of infections, according to Health Ministry data.

Like other European countries, Spain has resorted to increasingly drastic measures to curb infections in recent days.
