South Yorkshire Police investigate video of man biting ear of boy at World Snooker Championship in Sheffield

South Yorkshire Police is looking into a video from the World Snooker Championship where a man is seen biting the ear of a boy.

The BBC’s coverage of the event from The Crucible in Sheffield shows an interview with former player Stephen Hendry - with some fans gathered outside the venue in the background, outside of the studio.

Amid the crowd, viewers picked out the man whisper something in the ear of the boy and then nibble his ear. The boy then perhaps realises he is on television and waves.

The relationship between the two is unknown.

A South Yorkshire Police statement offered: “On Thursday 25 April at 9.20pm, we received a call to inform us of a video circulating on social media of a man and a boy at the Crucible in Sheffield.

“We are aware of the footage and officers will be reviewing the content.”

The World Snooker Tour said in a statement: “We are aware of this incident and it is now a police matter.”
