South Park bosses are in talks to develop new movies and TV specials
South Park has been mocking, well, everyone for the last 23 years, and not only does it show no signs of slowing down, but there are talks to expand it with movies and specials in the future.
ViacomCBS recently appointed former Marvel Studios animation boss Grant Gish as their Senior Vice President of Adult Animation, and he is really looking to tap into the power of the company's various brands and properties. He doesn't properly start until the end of this month, but we've already had announcements about a Daria spin-off and revivals of Ren & Stimpy and Beavis and Butt-Head.
CNBC have reported that there have been conversations with Trey Parker and Matt Stone about making South Park into more of an event with movies and specials.

While Gish didn't talk about those conversations because they are super confidential, he did tell the publication: "As long as you're doing something new, and that could be anything from a new style to a new tone to a new voice coming from a specific writer, I think it can work.
"An animation audience is looking for something unique. That's what The Simpsons and South Park have famously done. So I want to try a little bit of everything, even though a lot of it will be targeted to the tried and true with brands people know."
In the last decade, South Park did step out of its comfort zone with two well-received video games: The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole.
South Park airs on Comedy Central, Netflix and NOW TV in the UK.
