South Montana Wildfire Grows Amid Record Temperatures

Evacuations were ordered for communities in southern Montana as a wildfire grew amid record heat on June 15.

The blaze, dubbed the Robertson Draw Fire, started south of Red Lodge close to the Wyoming border on Sunday. By Tuesday morning it had grown to 2,000 acres.

Exceptional heat was experienced in the region on June 15, with at least four cities recording record high temperatures, according to the National Weather Service. Billings recorded a maximum temperature of 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Credit: Catherine Simon via Storyful
