South Carolina Officials Shut Down Flooded Roadways

Heavy rain and high winds in South Carolina led to flooded roadways, downed trees, and dangerous travel conditions on February 6, local law enforcement officials said.

A vast storm system sweeping the southeastern US hit South Carolina on Thursday morning, leading the National Weather Service to issue numerous tornado and flash flood warnings.

The York County Sheriff’s Office shared this video of a flooded roadway in Clover, where police were forced to close the roadway to drivers. In a tweet, the department said, “Please be cautious if you have to get out on roads,” urging drivers to “turn around and find an alternate route” rather than risk crossing water, downed power lines, and fallen trees.
