South Africa: Activist chains herself to Parliament's gates to protest gender-based violence

Venetia Orgill, a community activist from Mitchells Plain, has chained herself to the gates of South Africa's parliament in order to protest against the high levels of gender-based violence in the country.

Orgill is hoping to handover a memorandum to President Cyril Ramaphosa when he attends parliament later in the day to listen to Finance Minister Tito Mboweni's budget speech for the 2020 financial year.
