Sources: Bristol City agree canny Fulham signing as Nigel Pearson adds critical missing ingredient
Fulham defender Joe Bryan has agreed a deal to re-join former club Bristol City on a free transfer, TEAMtalk understands.
Bryan, 29, is set to become a free agent when his contract expires at season’s end. A number of Championship clubs have expressed an interest in bringing him on board and TEAMtalk have learned who’ll win the race.
It is our understanding that the player has signed off on re-joining Bristol City. The club have moved quickly to lure the veteran back to Ashton Gate as they look to strengthen their squad for next season.
Robins boss Nigel Pearson sees Bryan’s experience as a key addition to his young squad for next season as he looks to improve on a disappointing 14th place finish this term.
Bryan was loaned out to Ligue 1 side Nice back in August after it became apparent he would not feature heavily under Marco Silva in the Premier League.
However, his time in France has not been fruitful, with just nine appearances made across all competitions.
With his future not laying in Nice or back at Fulham either, a return to Bristol City will be the next step.
The left-back came through the ranks at Bristol City and made over 200 appearances between 2011 to 2018 before his switch to Fulham.
Bryan has made 117 appearances for Fulham during his time at Craven Cottage and will forever be remembered for the part he played in winning promotion to the Premier League in 2020.
Bryan scored both of Fulham’s goals in the 2-1 victory over Brentford in extra time at Wembley.
