Sophie Turner asks judge to ‘reactivate’ Joe Jonas divorce as both move on
NEW YORK — Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s contentious divorce may have cooled off as the two move on with new relationships, but the “Game of Thrones” actress now wants to “reactivate” the case.
Attorneys for Turner, 28, filed paperwork in Miami-Dade County, Florida, stating “the abatement has come to an end and this case is to be re-activated,” according to documents obtained by People.
The request comes two months after lawyers for the stars requested a judge drop the claims of “child abduction” Turner leveled against the 34-year-old “Burnin’ Up” singer — with whom she shares daughters Willa, 3, and Delphine, 19 months.
The Brit made those accusations in September, just weeks after Jonas filed for divorce, claiming their four-year marriage was “irretrievably broken.” Turner alleged at the time that the girls were being wrongfully retained in New York City from “their habitual residence” in England.
Jonas denied those allegations in a statement to the Daily News, also addressing the claim that Turner had been unaware of his intent to divorce until media reports.
“This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending,” Jonas said. “When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst. The children were not abducted.”
The former couple reached a temporary custody agreement in October, after days of mediation, which divided the girls’ time between their parents over the holiday season.
Turner is now rumored to be dating British aristocrat Peregrine “Perry” Pearson, to whom she’s been linked since late October. Jonas meanwhile has reportedly been dating model Stormi Bree for “a few months.”
