Mom discusses playground etiquette on TikTok

Have you ever been at the park with your kids and been forced to watch them share space (and playground equipment) with a child who just doesn’t understand the proper etiquette? Or, even worse, watched your kids play and realized they are the ones who don’t know playground etiquette? Learning the ropes of polite playground society is a rite of passage we all must undertake. And if there are any children in your life who missed that memo, breathe easy—this TikTok mom is ready and willing to give private lessons on playground etiquette.

@julieyourmomcoach posted a hilarious video in which the self-proclaimed “playground meddler” offers to step in when kids need to learn how to act right on the play structure.

“I have no problem telling other kids on the playground guidance on etiquette,” she explains.

She continues, “Like there’s this little girl who was shouting like she’s being attacked multiple times. I just walked over, and I was like, ‘Are you having an emergency? We don’t scream like that unless we’re having an emergency because it makes all the parents nervous that there’s something wrong with you, and there’s nothing wrong with you.'”

She adds, “Or my daughter is on the spinny thing right now, and one of the little boys keeps getting up and coming over to the sand and picking up fistfuls of sand and dumping it right on her legs and other kids’ legs. And I said, ‘Hey, we don’t throw sand on other kids. We don’t.'”

Julie concludes her video with this: “I don’t know if this bothers people, but it’s just like, if you’re doing it to my kid, I’m going to tell you. If you’re causing a ruckus that’s causing a problem for everybody, I’m going to tell you. If you’re doing something to yourself, I guess it’s fine. But yes, I’m a playground meddler.”

Hey, props for recognizing that about yourself. And turning it into a service you can offer to others. In the comments section, people were interested in this, so clearly Julie is onto something here.

“Absolutely! The kids with behavior issues are from the parents that say, ‘don’t tell my kids.’ I say, ‘If you don’t tell them, I will,'” one commenter wrote.

Another added, “I’m the same way and some parents need to control their children.”

Is this the next billion dollar business? Who knows! But if you need a hand teaching your kiddo some playground etiquette, Julie is clearly your gal.
