Sofía Vergara Was Asked About Joe Manganiello's Divorce Comments and It's All Very Awkward
Sofía Vergara was semi-awkwardly asked about some recent comments Joe Manganiello made about their split, and she actually spilled—while making it clear that they are fully not in touch. Though, to be clear Joe's comments were actually a response to Sofía's initial comments (there's been a lot of back and forth), so let's re-wind a moment.
Back in January, Sofía said the following to El País:
"I'm newly divorced from my second husband, who I was with for 10 years. My marriage broke up because my husband was younger. He wanted to have kids and I didn't want to be an old mom. I feel it's not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that's not for me anymore. I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother. So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children."
Then in July, Joe told Men's Journal that his ex-wife's El País comments were “simply not true.”
"We did try to have a family for the first year and a half," he added. "And we had a huge conversation right out of the gate during the first month we dated. I said, 'If you're done with kids, then I understand. Just tell me, and I'll know what this is, and that's okay.' But that wasn't the case with her. And I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn't work out. And I didn't."
The True Blood actor added that his desire to have kids “wasn't inevitably why everything ended. It's because two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.” He then said “To be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis, and after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I'm gone’? That’s never who I was.”
Cut to right now, and Sofía told Variety re: Joe's comments, "At the end of the day, you never even know if that’s what he said for real. I’ve read a lot of things that I’ve said that I’m like, Huh?’ What am I gonna do, call him? I don’t know if he even said that."
Soooo...sounds like there's some miscommunication here about what actually caused these two to split? Awk times.
