Visibility plummeted across Chicago as a winter storm blew into the city on Saturday, January 30.

Heavy snow of up to nine inches was forecast to affect the city in the evening, according to the National Weather Service. The weather bureau urged motorists to reconsider non-essential travel given deteriorating road conditions.
