Snow blankets parts of northern England

Residents said at least 13 inches of snow (33.2 cm) fell on Friday prompting locals to help each other clear driveways and gather food supplies for those who could not venture into the snow.
Trucks were seen at a standstill on the highway, with several cars unable to gain traction on the snow-covered surface.
Motorists were met with seven-hour delays and 17 miles (27 kilometers) of congestion on the M62, local media reported, as freezing weather conditions brought widespread disruption to much of the UK.
