A woman snorkelling off Queensland’s Lady Elliott Island was treated to a close encounter with a humpback whale and its calf on August 12.
In this video shot by Olivia Cornale, the baby whale practices its underwater acrobatics near its mother’s head.
“Welcome to the best snorkel I will have in my entire life!” Cornale wrote alongside the video on Instagram.
“I was lucky enough to come across Mum, little baby and escort and get to hang out with them for 40mins with bubs playing around and mum came up every now and then for air!,” she said.
