Smoke Plume Towers Over Gaza Following Factory Strike in Jabalya

Israeli forces struck a sponge factory in Jabalya, in the northern Gaza Strip, early on Monday, May 17, starting a fire that sent a towering plume of smoke into the air over the region, local reports said.

Palestinian Civil Defense crews worked to put the fire out and stop it from spreading to nearby homes and buildings.

As of Monday, May 17, the Palestinian Health Ministry said 220 people were killed and 6,039 had been injured.
