Smoke Fills Sky Above Bootleg Fire in Oregon

A fire in the Fremont-Winema National Forest in south-central Oregon has burned an estimated 315 square miles, officials said on July 13, amid smoke warnings and evacuation orders.

Footage shared by Michelle Dallas on Instagram shows an aerial view of smoke billowing from the fire in Klamath County on July 12.

Officials said smoke from the fire was “highly visible from Oregon State Highway 140, Sprague River Highway, Chiloquin, and the surrounding area.” Drivers were advised to use caution and expect increased traffic as crews fought the fire.

As of Tuesday, the fire was estimated to be 201,923 acres, officials said. Credit: Michelle Dallas via Storyful
