Smoke Billows From Three-Alarm Fire at Fresno's Amazon Fulfillment Center
Smoke rose from the roof of a Fresno, California, Amazon fulfillment center on Tuesday, April 14, from a fire that quickly grew to three-alarm level.
According to reports from the Fresno Bee, more than 50 firefighters were dispatched the blaze at the 855,000 square foot warehouse. The black smoke, caused by burning solar panels, was seen for miles. The cause of the fire was unknown.
In an email statement cited by the Fresno Bee, Amazon said: “The health and safety of our associates is our number one priority and the site was safely evacuated. We are working with emergency responders to assess the damage and will re-open once local authorities determine it’s safe to do so. We appreciate the efforts of our local first responders.”
These videos show the fire at the warehouse. In the video, a woman can be heard saying: “This is a time where we can test these masks … if they work good or not, if we smell fire, then they suck.”
