Smoke Billows From Derailed Train Near Aberdeen

Large clouds of smoke were seen after a passenger train derailed near Stonehaven, Scotland, on August 12.

The derailment came after a night of flash flooding in Aberdeenshire, STV reported. A flood warning was issued for Stonehaven.

Several emergency services vehicles attended the scene including ambulances, police and fire engines.

“We are working alongside the emergency services to respond to an incident involving a train near Stonehaven,” Network Rail Scotland said. “It is too early to confirm the exact nature and severity of the incident and more details will be made available once known.”
