Small Plane Crashes Off Runway at Naval Station in San Diego

A small civilian plane crashed off a runway on Friday, September 9, at the Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California.

This footage, uploaded by San Diego Web Cam shows the craft wedged between the beach and a rock ledge.

According to local reports citing authorities the plane was “attempting to land at around 1:15 pm when it slid off a runway and into an embankment along the San Diego Bay” during rough weather caused by Tropical Storm Kay.

Two people were aboard the plane when it crashed, according to local reports, but there were no serious injuries.
