Job hunting can be stressful. You've got to nail the application and sneak out for the interview, and then there's the small task of impressing your future boss when you get there.

But before you even get to that stage, you want to know you're putting yourself in the best position for success. And with that comes letting recruiters know you're open to future opportunities - and making your sure your CV is up to scratch.

One small thing you can do to make sure your digital CV is up to scratch, is upload a professional and appropriate photo to your LinkedIn profile. That's because their careers expert Charlotte Davies reveals you're actually 21x more likely to get those profile views, which could eventually result in a job.

"Keep your profile looking fresh," she tells Cosmopolitan UK. "Did you know that LinkedIn profiles with photos receive up to 21x more profile views? And those that have five or more skills listed on their profile are found up to 27x more in searches by recruiters? A few quick updates online can be hugely beneficial in any job search."

This comes as Jenna Prescott, the recruiting manager at travel company Expedia, previously told Cosmopolitan that job hunted should include a link to their LinkedIn profile on applications to make life easier for the hiring manager. If there’s a quick link they can click on to get a better idea of you as a person and potential candidate, why not include it?

"Keeping your LinkedIn profile up-to-date and putting a URL within your CV can also come in handy, as it means that even if your CV is looked at months down the line, recruiters can keep up to date with what you have been up to.”

She adds that should you be applying to a role in the creative field, your portfolio should be visible too so that hirers can easily see evidence of your work and accomplishments.

Consider that next job just around the corner.
