Let's be honest, the news is pretty eventful at the moment. So spare a thought for Sky News after the team found themselves pulled off air after a fire alarm disrupted their programming last night (September 21).

Despite having their hands full with *gestures vaguely at everything*, the Sky News team had one more thing to worry about when a fire alarm forced a break in the show's live coverage at around 11.15pm.

During a chat with Sky's chief political correspondent Jon Craig, anchor Anna Botting interrupted with some breaking news of her own.

"Jon Craig, I do apologise. I'll have to butt in," she said.

"There is a fire alarm in the area that controls our programming. We'll be back shortly."

While the problem was being fixed behind the scenes, the 24-hour channel opted to air a pre-recorded segment about con men before eventually returning to air around 45 minutes later.

Anna took to Twitter to let fans know what happened, writing: "Fire alarm. Stops broadcast. Back soon... @SkyNews."

She followed up about 55 minutes later with: "And we’re back... @KimberleyeLeo from midnight."

Daily Mail reported that Sky Sports News was also taken off air briefly with those tuning in getting an error message.

In other Sky-related news, Sky Sports recently announced an overhaul of its Soccer Saturday programme after dropping three of its long-serving presenters.

Last month, it was confirmed that Matt Le Tissier, Charlie Nicholas, and Phil Thompson had all been axed from the show, with co-hosts Jeff Stelling and Paul Merson remaining.

In a statement, Sky said: "We are changing some parts of our football coverage – Matt, Charlie and Phil have done a great job for us over the years, and they will leave us with our sincere thanks and very best wishes."
