Skiers Ride on Grass as Warm Weather Causes Snow Shortage in the Alps
A lack of snow forced skiers to ride on patches of wet grass in St. Jakob im Walde, Austria, on January 6.
WetterOnline reported on Thursday that sparse snow cover is a problem affecting resorts across the Alps, but especially acute at altitudes below 2,000 m in both Austria and Switzerland.
The lack of snow comes amid reports several European countries set January heat records this year.
