KOTA KINABALU, Feb 8 — Six cops and one civilian will be charged in court today with the murder of 61-year-old e-hailing driver Nurman Bakaratu last January 13 at an oil palm estate in Batu 5, Tawau.

Sabah police chief Datuk Idris Abdullah said that the police completed their investigations which involved the arrest of eight policemen, including four senior officers, yesterday.

“Seven suspects, including six policemen and one civilian will be charged today under Section 302 of the Penal Code, to be read with Section 34 and Section 109 of the Penal Code for abetment,” he said in a statement here.

The penalty provides for a mandatory death sentence if convicted.

Police believed the murder case was motivated by jealousy.

The deceased's wife, 33-year-old Nurima Juli, was charged with murder last January 30, in an oil palm plantation near Jalan Anjur Juara, Jalan Apas, Batu 5, here between 7.30pm and 9pm.
