Israeli police said that two suspects opened fire Tuesday evening on a boulevard in Jaffa, a mixed Arab-Jewish neighbourhood in southern Tel Aviv.

Seven people were killed and another twelve were wounded, before the two suspects were "neutralised."

The attack came moments before a massive barrage of rockets from Iran sent citizens across Israel into bomb shelters, according to a post on X made by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).

“The police forces are handling the scene under a missile attack,” the police said in a statement about the shooting.

Haim Sargarov, the police commander of the Tel Aviv district, told reporters that the attackers were “not Israelis.”

The attack occurred just a day after Israel launched a ground incursion into Lebanon, following a wave of intense airstrikes in the region targeting the Iranian-backed militant group, Hezbollah.
