Singer Shila Amzah wrote new single, ‘Jauh Hati’, a night before her separation from ex-husband (VIDEO)
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 — In her newest single Jauh Hati, singer-songwriter Shila Amzah opens up about heartbreak and loneliness.
The 32-year-old revealed she had written the song the night before leaving her ex-husband in November last year.
“I wrote Jauh Hati before I decided to leave the house with my son,” Shila shared during a media launch on Friday (December 16).
“The night before I left him, I was doing some grocery shopping when a feeling of emptiness set in. I realised that there’s always this void in my marriage.”
“That night (November 11), I had to get the emotions off my chest, so I wrote the song within 20 minutes.”
According to Shila, she is not afraid of backlash as most of her close friends and family knew how the marriage ended.
“I’m very open about my divorce and I’m not afraid of anything because I know who I am,” she told mStar.
“I am a writer at heart. He knows this, and so should everyone else that is close to me.”
Through the song’s lyrics, Shila expresses her loss of self in a relationship as her lover puts her feelings aside.
“Honestly, my relationships before and after marriage were awful,” she admitted.
“This song also reflects my feelings on all the lost connections I’ve had in the past.”
Shila tied the knot with Haris Idraki Elias in April 2018 and had their son Seth Uwais the following year.
They officially announced their divorce in February this year.
