KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 — A Singaporean woman was left baffled after meeting a monkey who she thought she had managed to befriend, but ended up being a fiend instead.

The woman named Chloe took to Twitter to share her ‘absurd’ experience when her antidepressants medicine were taken by the said monkey.

She shared with Mothership that she was spending some time reading at the Singapore Botanic Gardens on February 23 after her appointment with her psychiatrist.

Chloe brought along an ice-cream and as she sat on the bench at the park, she noticed a monkey hanging around nearby.

The monkey made its move as soon as Chloe left her bench to throw away her litter.

The creature dug into her backpack and took five strips of her Prozac medicine which was tied together in a plastic medicine bag before bolting away to a nearby tree.

It then ripped off the medicine bag before throwing it down to the ground along with four of the five strips of Prozac.

Before Chloe could call the park’s security, the monkey had eaten two pills from the remaining strip before dropping it down.

She then reported the incident to the visitor’s service booth — even the staff there was in disbelief and said that they’ve never encountered such incidents before.

Chloe also shared that while the monkey was going through the strips of medicine, a few tourists were taking pictures of the incident while children from a German family were shouting and throwing things at the monkey.

“The whole thing felt strange but incredibly funny too,” she said.

She expressed her disbelief at the whole incident via her tweets.

“(I’ve) never felt more solidarity with white people, out of body experience while a German family and an Australian couple were taunting the monkey with leaves while other white people were shouting and taking pictures. I’m weak.”

Chloe’s Twitter thread has garnered over 100,000 likes and has been retweeted over 13,000 times with Twitter users finding the incident amusing in the replies and quoted tweets.

“How would a shrink respond if a patient said: Doctor, my antidepressant was stolen by a monkey. That’s why I need a new prescription,” replied user Wulan K. Wardhani.

“Why is the wildlife in Singapore going insane these days,” replied user Honeybix.

“Bro probably has the same illness,” user nrnnasyfa replied.
