Simon Yam attends first event since knife assault

13 Aug – Simon Yam has recently made his first public appearance since surviving his knife assault.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor attended a promotional event of his new movie "Little Q" in Guangzhou, surrounded by 80 security guards that were posted around the venue.

In addition to the huge number of security officers, the organiser also equipped the area with metal barriers to ensure that the audience will not be able to come near the actor, though Simon still did shake hands with many of his fans as he arrived on location.

Speaking about the movie, Simon shared that he enjoyed working on the project so much that he decided to attend the promotional event following his hospitalisation.

He also spoke repeatedly about the need of having the love of family and friends in facing adversity.

"Just like the character in the movie, difficulties can be overcome with love," he said.

During the press conference, Simon did mention the "king-like" treatment that he has been getting from wife Qi Qi and daughter Ella, saying that he is grateful for the care they have shown.

"I feel like the most important person in the world. My family has been giving me an 8-star service. My daughter made me dessert and my wife also cooked special meals for me," he said.

Although he made no mention of his injury, it is noted that the actor will need around eight weeks for the wound to fully recover.

Simon is also scheduled to attend a charity screening of "Little Q" in Hong Kong this 14 August.
