Silent Witness romance ramped up by risk of death
The latest episode of the BBC crime drama saw pathologist Dr Nikki Alexander trapped on a flight on which passengers became ill from an airborne poison.
What did you miss?
Silent Witness's Nikki and Jack openly declared their love for one another in dramatic scenes in the latest episode.
The second part of tense story Vanishing Point, which aired on Tuesday, 28 January, saw pathologist Dr Nikki Alexander trapped on a flight on which passengers were falling ill from an airborne poison. As more people started to fall ill onboard the aeroplane, Jack Hodgson fought frantically to work out what was the cause from down on the ground, in a bid to save his fiancee. Meanwhile, Nikki braved her claustrophobia to enter the aeroplane's hold and conduct a post-mortem examination mid-air.
Fans of the BBC crime drama loved hearing the reserved couple finally using the words "I love you" and calling each other "my fiance/fiancee", before sharing an emotional embrace when they were finally reunited safely at the end of the show.
What, how and why?
Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) and forensic expert Jack Hodgson (David Caves) are set to marry soon after finally getting together in the last season, following a nine-year-long 'will they, won't they?' storyline. But despite being engaged the reserved characters still rarely speak of love in the show.
So fans found the latest episode heartwarming, in spite of the high-octane plot, as Jack was spurred into hero mode and fought to do everything he could to save Nikki, Meanwhile, she told him "I love you" and declared she did not want to die because she wanted to "go home to my fiance".
