Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Danilo from Brazilian side Palmeiras, with the midfielder making an immediate promise to the City Ground faithful.

The Brazilian has signed a six-and a-half-year deal which commits him to Steve Cooper’s men until the summer of 2029.

The Reds beat a lot of European competition to the signature of the 21-year-old old, who is considered one of the top young talents in Brazil.

Danilo came through the youth ranks at Palmeiras before going on to make 141 appearances for the 11-time Brazilian champions.

During his time there, Danilo won two Copa Libertadores, while he was alsonamed in the Team of the Year as Palmeiras won the Campeonato Paulista as well as the Brazilian Serie A title in 2022.

The Forest new boy will wear the No.28 shirt at the City Ground.

After completing his move, Danilo told the club’s official website: “I’m really happy to be fulfilling my dream of playing in the Premier League and playing for Nottingham Forest.

“I learnt a bit about the history of the Club and saw they had won two European Cups. I spoke to Gustavo Scarpa as well, and he told me that Nottingham is a great city and Forest have a quality squad with really good staff.

“I will show a lot of determination and a strong desire to win and will always look to do my best on the pitch to achieve positive results.

“I’m excited about getting started and meeting my new teammates.”

Forest sporting director, Filippo Giraldi, added: “We are really happy to welcome Danilo to our Club and to our city.

“He is a fantastic talent that will be a great asset for the present and the future of Nottingham Forest.”
