Heavy snowfall accumulation was reported in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains on Friday, December 24, amid a winter storm warning for the region.
Footage taken by researchers at UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab shows a white Christmas Eve morning in Soda Springs. More than 24 inches of snow fell in the 24 hours up to 8 am Friday, they said.
“That takes our two-day total to 30.7 inches (78 cm),” the lab wrote in a tweet. “Our first floor door has almost disappeared under the snowpack and likely will soon. Plenty more snow to come over the next 72 hours!” Credit: UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab via Storyful
