CASTING

Common has joined “Never Have I Ever” as a recurring guest star in the second season, which will debut this summer on Netflix. The multihyphenate will play Dr. Chris Jackson, described as a “suave and debonair dermatologist” who works in the same building as fellow dermatologist Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar (Poorna Jagannathan). Based in the suburbs of Los Angeles, Dr. Jackson’s high-practice attracts celebrity clients, which everyone seems to find impressive except Nalini. “Never Have I Ever” is created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher; both executive produce, with Fisher also serving as showrunner. 3 Arts Entertainment’s Howard Klein and David Miner also serve as executive producers. See some first-look images at the second season below.

ACQUISITIONS

Showtime Documentary Films announced that it has acquired the worldwide rights to “Cusp,” which is slated for a theatrical release before its network premiere later this year. Set in a small military town in Texas, “Cusp” chases three wild-spirited teenage girls as they live out a fever-dream summer, when the strictures of adolescence clash with the growing desire for personal agency. The documentary is produced by Zachary Luke Kislevitz for Kislevitz Films, along with Hill and Bethencourt. It is executive produced by Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus for Maiden Voyage Pictures, Joe Plummer and Jenifer Westphal for Wavelength and Caitlin Gold and Naomi McDougall Jones for The 51 Fund.

PROGRAMMING

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Angelina Jolie, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, John Oliver and Rosie Perez joined the lineup of special guests for “Sesame Street: 50 Years of Sunny Days.” It will air April 26 at 8 p.m. on ABC and will feature a reimagined version of “Sesame Street” classic “Sunny Days” from Stevie Wonder, long known for his iconic performances on the beloved children’s series. The two-hour documentary highlights the work of Sesame Workshop (the nonprofit behind the show) and reflects upon the show’s unparalleled worldwide legacy, and will be available on Hulu the following day. Previously announced special guests include W. Kamau Bell, Gloria Estefan, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Whoopi Goldberg, Christopher Jackson, John Legend, Lucy Liu, Olivia Munn, Questlove, Chrissy Teigen and Usher.

TCM has teamed with filmmaker Joshua Grossberg on his quest to track down the fabled director’s cut of Orson Welles’ 1942 drama “The Magnificent Ambersons.” Welles’ stories of battling studio RKO over his followup to 1941’s “Citizen Kane” are legendary, as was his disdain for the version of “Ambersons” originally released by the studio. TCM will fund Grossberg’s trek to Brazil to follow leads about the lost print that he has pursued for more than 25 years. TCM plans to air Grossberg’s documentary “The Search for the Lost Print: The Making of Orson Welles’ ‘The Magnificant Ambersons’ ” next year to commemorate the film’s 80th anniversary. The melodrama stars Joseph Cotten, Dolores Costello and Anne Baxter in the story of an Indianpolis family with a crumbling fortune.

LATE NIGHT

Allison Janney, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and Pooh Shiesty will appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” while Terry Crews, Corinne Foxx and Greta Van Fleet will be on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Howie Mandel will appear on “Conan,” while Willie Geist and Maria Bakalova will be on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” Gayle King, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Anderson East will be on “Late Night With Seth Meyers”; “The Late Late Show With James Corden” will feature Keith Urban and Jon Batiste, and Margaret Cho will be on “A Little Late With Lilly Singh.”
