Shock Tottenham swoop for Man Utd star gets major lift with Levy a ‘huge admirer’ and Prem rivals falling behind in chase
A report has provided a big update as Tottenham prepare to swoop in for a Manchester United player this summer, with Nottingham Forest struggling to keep up with the north London side in the race for his services.
Tottenham look set to land several new players during the next transfer window. If Harry Kane leaves for Man Utd then they will have to bring in at least two new attackers to replace his goals. Tottenham will also require a new centre-back, with the current crop of defenders not up to scratch and Clement Lenglet heading back to Barcelona at the end of his loan spell.
Goalkeeper and club captain Hugo Lloris needs replacing, too. He is now 36 years old and looks past his best.
Tottenham have previously been linked with Leeds keeper Illan Meslier. However, Meslier will be extremely low on confidence amid Leeds shipping so many goals in their relegation scrap.
Instead, Spurs could go after Dean Henderson of Man Utd. The Englishman has spent the season on loan at Forest.
While Forest have shipped 62 goals in the Premier League and are also involved in a relegation battle, just like Leeds, Henderson has had a good campaign. He has pulled off several big saves to give Forest some important results in their push to remain in the top flight.

However, Henderson suffered a thigh injury in January and he has not played since, allowing Keylor Navas to shine in his place.
Nevertheless, Henderson’s stock remains high and he appears set to leave Man Utd on a permanent basis later this year.
Spurs, Forest target wants Man Utd exit
On Saturday, Football Insider reported that the 26-year-old thinks a return to Old Trafford is ‘impossible’. With David de Gea on the verge of being handed a new contract, Henderson does not believe he is going to be given an opportunity under Erik ten Hag next season.
Football Insider have now provided an update on the situation. They reveal that Forest are interested in signing Henderson permanently and will send an offer to Man Utd as a result.
However, they will only be able to convince the shot-stopper to join if they stay up. And following the 2-1 defeat to Brentford on Saturday, there is still a good chance Steve Cooper’s side might get relegated. They sit in 17th place, just one point above the bottom three.
Forest’s relegation would put Spurs in pole position to sign Henderson. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is described as being a ‘huge admirer’ of the keeper, which could see him put up big money to make the Man Utd raid a reality.
Henderson would be a great signing for Spurs. As Lloris’ Spurs deal runs for another season, Henderson could learn from the Frenchman and compete for his starting spot before becoming the outright number one the following campaign.
Man Utd would not want to sell Henderson to Spurs as it would improve a direct Prem rival. Although, they may have no choice if Henderson pushes hard for an exit from the club and hands in a transfer request.
Meanwhile, TEAMtalk understands Mauricio Pochettino is preparing to scupper Spurs’ transfer plans by landing a key summer target for Chelsea.
