Shipping Container Floats Past Pub on NSW Highway as Flash Flooding Leaves Thousands Stranded

The Central West region of New South Wales (NSW) faced dramatic flooding on Monday, November 14, leaving “thousands” stranded, media reported.

Dramatic night video, filmed by Tim Roberts from the balcony of Molong’s Freemason Hotel, shows a shipping container and a large tank float past a submerged shop in fast moving flood waters along the Mitchell Highway.

Nearly 90mm of rain fell near Eugowra and Molong, where residents are cut off by flash flooding. An Australian Defence Force helicopter was sent to Molong to rescue those trapped in floodwater or needing medical assistance.

NSW State Emergency Service was called to 462 requests for help over the last 24 hours. Credit: Tim Roberts via Storyful
