Shila Amzah's parents ND Lala and Fauziah Sarman ended marriage

9 Aug – Fauziah Sarman, the mother of singer Shila Amzah, recently revealed that she and husband, veteran singer ND Lala, are no longer together.

Fauziah shared the news on social media on 9 August, saying that ND Lala, real name Amir Amzah, has informed her of the divorce via WhatsApp voice call on the morning of 8 August 2023.

"For this marriage of 34 years, the talaq was made by my ex-husband on 2 August at the Ar Rahman Mosque in Bangsar, and I was told about it yesterday (8 August) via WhatsApp. Thank God, Allah has given me extraordinary strength to accept this fate. I take this with an open heart because I'm sure my prayers and the prayers of the people supporting me will be the reason for me to have a better and calmer life," she posted.

Fauziah stated that the reason she announced the divorce was to avoid slander and to accept wholeheartedly that her marriage is over.

"Thank you for all the prayers and for those who are involved in this elaborate story of mine, it's hard to say it in words. Only God can repay all of your good deeds and love," she added.

The marriage between the two parties had been rocky for the past few months, after it was revealed that the singer had married a younger woman.

It was just last weekend on 5 August that Fauziah welcomed a new addition to the family in the form of a new son-in-law in Ubaidillah, who married daughter Shila.
